Declarative Language | Hettie Judah in discussion with Alexis Soul Gray, Kelly Jessiman
On the occasion of Declarative Language at Amici Studio, Hastings, writer and curator Hettie Judah joined artists and curators Alexis Soul-Gray and Kelly Jessiman for a conversation about artistic practice, parenthood and care. Curated by Alexis Soul-Gray and Kelly Jessiman, Declarative Language brings together artists whose practices have been shaped by sustained caregiving within families of neurodivergent children. The conversation considers how parenthood and artistic practice intersect, inform one another and are negotiated in real time, from questions of time, access and sustainability to shifts in language, authorship, collaboration and material process. Presented in collaboration with Art Working Parents Alliance, co-founded by Hettie Judah and Jo Harrison, the discussion reflects on how caregiving reshapes both the practical and conceptual frameworks of making work, and how artists continue to build ambitious, responsive practices within conditions of compression, adaptation and care. Filmed at Amici Studio, Hastings.
