Amalasuintha tried to continue the work of pacification and balanced government of her father Theodoric, but despite the queen's undoubted intelligence and profound culture (she spoke four different languages), resentments and particularisms, as well as cult differences between the Catholics, the Italics and the Aryans, the Goths, brought a dramatic end to her life in the spring of the year 535.
