Éloge de la plainte en médecine, avec Florian Poullenot
In an increasingly technical and protocol-driven medical system, what becomes of a patient's complaint when it exceeds the bounds of medical knowledge? Studio Lacan welcomes Florian Poullenot, gastroenterologist at the Bordeaux University Hospital and PhD in philosophy, for a discussion about the limits of an increasingly objectifying medicine, the gap between pain, injury, and demand, and also the individual responsibility of each physician in their response to a patient. How can we reconcile scientific rigor with the unique nature of each situation? Between clinical practice, pragmatism, and deliberation, a reflection on what it means to care for others today. In L’Écho de la culture, Céline Djian will offer a reading of Franz Kafka's "The Hunger Artist," exploring the body, the gaze of the Other, and hunger as a boundless experience. Finally, in L’Actualité de la psychanalyse, Emmanuelle Borgnis-Desbordes will revisit an intervention by Jacques Lacan addressed to doctors, devoted to the objectification of the body and the future of the clinic in the age of scientific medicine.
