From Smooth Roads to Loose Terrain - Lamayuru to Padum (Day 6)

Day 6 began with smooth mountain roads leaving Lamayuru, but the route slowly gave way to rougher terrain as we headed back toward Padum. Around 80 kilometres of the ride was off-road — loose surfaces, rocky sections, dust, water crossings, and constantly changing tracks cutting through some of the widest and most dramatic valleys of the trip. The landscapes kept shifting through the day. Narrow mountain roads opening into huge empty stretches, rivers running alongside the trail, and long sections where it felt like there was nothing else around for miles.
