I Finally Read the 1st Thomas Covenant Trilogy… and It Completely Surprised Me
I just finished The First Chronicles of Thomas Covenant—and I honestly wasn’t expecting this. What I found was an incredibly engaging, layered fantasy trilogy that goes far beyond plot. This is a deeply character-driven story centered on Thomas Covenant, a man from our world dealing with illness, isolation, and survival, who is suddenly pulled into a strange and powerful land that may—or may not—be real. This series explores themes like guilt, responsibility, despair, choice, and what it really means to live when everything in your life is falling apart. It’s not always easy to read, and the main character can be difficult—even frustrating—but that’s part of what makes it so compelling. If you’re someone who enjoys character-focused fantasy with real emotional and philosophical weight, this might be something special. It definitely was for me. I can absolutely see why this trilogy wouldn’t land for everyone—but if it clicks, it really clicks. Let me know if you’ve read Thomas Covenant, or if this is something you’re thinking about trying. 📖 Want to Support the Channel?
