As this basket is deeper, the coffee puck is obviously thicker. The pressurised water flow resistance increases due to the tighter space, and the extraction slows down. This results in longer contact time between the coffee grounds and water, leading to more uniform extraction. The result is a better-tasting espresso. Channelling is also reduced. One big advantage that this basket has is that it doesn’t require a high-end coffee bean grinder; just a regular budget grinder will do the job, as this basket requires a coarser grind.
