Today, we filmed a skate fishing scene in Daecheongdo, an island located about 19 kilometers from the coast of Hwanghae Province in North Korea. We boarded the fishing boat before dawn and followed the fishermen out to sea. Out on the West Sea, where the wind and currents keep changing, the fishermen pull in the lines and bring up skate one by one. Daecheongdo has long been known as one of Korea’s famous skate fishing areas. In this video, we captured how skate is caught, prepared, and eventually brought to the table.
