Tombouctou cherche touristes!
Timbuktu, the city of 333 saints, is now a mere shadow of its former self in terms of tourism. Once an essential stop for tourists visiting northern Mali, Timbuktu is currently undergoing the restoration of its tourist sites, which were destroyed by Islamist groups during their ten-month occupation of the city. Despite these efforts, tourists remain scarce, much to the despair of tour guides. Droit Libre TV traveled to Timbuktu to better understand this lull, which is beginning to drag on for far too long.
