On December 16th, 1773, what’s known as “The Boston Tea Party” began at around 7-10PM EST. Dozens and dozens of members of “The Sons of Liberty” snuck aboard cargo ships transporting tea docked in the Boston Harbor, and threw about 342 boxes of tea overboard into the water, causing about 1.7 million U.S. dollars in damages in todays money.
