Forgiveness

Wednesday, June 3, 2026 Wednesday Night Bible Study Minister Valerie Coleman "Forgiveness" Sermon Notes: 1. Forgiveness is an act of obedience. *Believers and followers of Jesus are commanded to forgive. Forgiveness is not optional. *Forgiveness does not mean that the wrongful act was "okay". *Forgiveness is not just spiritual. It is emotional, physical, mental, and relational. *Colossians 3:13 2. Forgiveness is not reconciliation. Forgiveness is personal. Reconciliation is between multiple parties. *Reconciliation requires truth, accountability, repentance, changed behavior, and the willing participation between both parties. 3. Boundaries are biblical. *Proverbs 4:23 *Not everyone needs to have access to your life. *Protect what God has given you. *Silence is not weakness. 4. Biblical forgiveness still requires consequences. *God forgives, but consequences still exist. *An apology does not equal repentance. *Genesis 50:20 *Biblical forgiveness requires emotional and spiritual maturity, and God's wisdom. 5. Forgiveness breaks the cycle of toxic behavior, dysfunction, and generational pain. 6. Refuse emotional attachment if the memory returns. 7. Make pre-forgiveness a lifestyle by using discernment.
