LS&I Munising Branch

Here's a brief look at LS&I operations on the Munising Branch in September, 1988. We caught RS-3 1804, which was the assigned power to the branch for many years, leaving Munising and heading for the then-WC interchange at Munising Jct. After dropping their train on the interchange, they picked up a box car and tanker headed back to Munising. After placing the box in the upper part of the mill, they took the tanker to the lower end and then went down on the back track next to the lake. They were down there quite a while so we decided to head back to Marquette. Of note is the 5 man crew. When WC took over operation of this line the following year, they did it with two men.
