How to Time a Polaris Ranger 900

How to find Top dead center, time bottom and top end on Polaris Ranger 900 2014-2017 models. This also applies to the RZR 900 as I believe the motor is the same. I would recommend upgrading to a manual timing chain tensioner if you are doing this repair. In our case the stock oil pressure tensioner failed at 20,000 Miles and it wiped out the outer cam chain slider shredding it into multiple pieces and sending shards of it throughout the valve train and within the stator cover. Note that if you are replacing the Cam chain on these models you will have to either split the cases or use a Dremel and trim the casing around where the timing chain goes on the crank gear. In my case I opted to cut the cam chain off, spin the motor over to remove it and then trim the casing with the cam chain removed until I could slide the new chain in. You must be very cautious that you clean all of the metallic materials out of the casing before reassembly.
