Dr. Kumarasamy Thangaraj – World-renowned geneticist and CSIR Bhatnagar Fellow, whose research has made revolutionary contributions to population and medical genetics. He established the Andaman tribes as the first modern humans, revealed the genetic structure of Indian populations, and identified key mutations associated with heart disease risk. Over 300 research articles have been published in prestigious journals such as Nature and Current Biology. He is the coordinator of national mission programs such as "Genome India" and "Pediatric Rare Genetic Diseases." Recipient of numerous national and international awards, his work is a scientific testament to "unity in diversity" and has given new direction to India's medical research capacity.
