Vishal Bhardwaj Interview with Neelesh Misra. Vishal Bhardwaj is an Indian film director, screenwriter, producer, music composer, and playback singer. He made his debut as a music composer with the children's film Abhay (The Fearless) (1995). Bhardwaj made his directorial debut with the children's film Makdee (2002). He produces films under his banner VB Pictures. Apart from composing music, Bhardwaj has also lent his voice for various songs for films like Omkara, No Smoking , U Me Aur Hum, Kaminey, Striker, 7 Khoon Maaf, Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola and Haider. Some of the popular movies of Vishal Bhardwaj are Omkara (2006), Haider (2014), Maqbool (2003), The Blue Umbrella (2005), Makdee (2002), Kaminey (2009), 7 Khoon Maaf (2011), Matru ki Bijlee ka Mandola (2013), Rangoon (2017), Pataakha (2018). Vishal Bhardwaj is Known for his adaptations of William Shakespeare's tragedies (Maqbool based on Macbeth, Omkara based on Othello, Haider based on Hamlet. He has won the Filmfare RD Burman Award for New Music Talent for Maachis, National Film Award for Best Music Direction for Godmother. His movie The Blue Umbrella won the National Film Award for Best Children's Film. National Film Award – Special Jury Award for Omkara. He got two Filmfare nominations for Kaminey in Best Director and Best Music Director categories. He won his second National Film Award for Best Music Direction, for his production venture Ishqiya. At the 62nd National Film Awards, Bhardwaj won his third Best Music Direction and Best Screenplay award for Haider. In 2016, Bhardwaj was awarded with Yash Bharti Award by the Government of Uttar Pradesh for his contribution in the field of cinema. He also received his second National Film Award for Best Screenplay for writing Talvar. Bhardwaj won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Music Director for his second Malayalam film Carbon. As per the latest news, Vishal Bhardwaj is confident that 'Midnight's Children', which has already been made into a film by Deepa Mehta, is best suited for the series format. Ishaan Khatter who was to be star in Vishal Bharadwaj's next project 'Midnight's Children', has apparently walked out of the film.
