“Kuolema Tekee Taiteilijan” by Nightwish, performed live on stage in Kitee. I had the honor to share this moment with Plamen Dimov on piano. He is a truly legendary figure, professional musician and multi-instrumentalist who moved to Finland over 30 years ago and became the first teacher and mentor to the original members of Nightwish. He played a key role in their early development as a band, which is why he is often called the “godfather of Nightwish.” Standing on this stage felt surreal, because just a few days later Auri were scheduled to perform here. As you probably know, Auri features members of Nightwish, with the exception of Johanna Kurkela, an incredible vocalist and artist in her own right, and the wife of Tuomas Holopainen. Knowing that I was performing on the same stage right before such an important concert made the whole experience feel even more intense and responsible. It was almost as nerve-wracking as singing in front of Tuomas Holopainen himself. Being invited by Plamen to perform at NFM is something I’m deeply grateful for.
