vid483 - shoulder checks are important

Ever see all the social media posts of startups/ads for crappy turn signals for bikes? Beyond the fact that they're silly, the shoulder check is a much more important thing. I feel like many cyclists interested in turn signals have never driven and don't understand that a turn signal doesn't give you the right of way to change lanes or force drivers to yield to you. You need to check that the way is clear - the vehicle making the lane change would be at fault in the event of a collision (at least in my jurisdiction anyway.) 0:00-0:16 wet roads 0:16-0:29 illegal right on red 0:29-1:04 White truck following close 1:04-1:10 ...and didn't get anywhere 1:10-1:36 shoulder checks are more important than signaling 1:36-1:57 pass fully 1:57-2:25 please go 2:25-2:37 uncomfortable inside pass 2:37-3:05 driver goes straight through 3:05-3:22 Toronto worker holds up streetcar 3:22-3:45 Driver blocks intersection 3:45-3:57 Can finally open it up 3:57-4:19 I actually climb quickly 4:19-4:33 let them get clear 4:33-4:53 nvm, climbing very slowly
