Matterhorn Solo Climb | 4478m | 4K

Implementing the lessons learnt from the previous endeavour, my second attempt to scale the Matterhorn just as challenging. Heighten by a deadly week with the fatality of 2 climbers and 6 others being heli rescued from the mountain hut after an unexpected storm caught them by surprise the day prior. I too experience the intensity of the storm on the way down from my own summit bid, the snow accumulating on my wind breaker as I coil and thread the next anchor. Visibility and tracks deteriorating, I take my time not to be another statistic and make the call to stay the night at Solvary hut, sleeping on the timber floors and nibbling and sipping on rations to last the next day.
