Appalachian Trail ‘26 Flip-Flop | Day 130

Due to the declining health of my mother I went home to help make her comfortable in her final days. She passed peacefully with love her family surrounding her. Coming back to the trail I decided it was necessary to turn my NOBO through hike into a flip-flop so you may notice trail sections out of sequence, but in the end it will all be covered. After years of dreaming and planning, the time is finally here. This March, I’ll begin my NOBO thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail — a journey that helped inspire my early retirement and one that I hope will reset and refocus me for the next chapter of life. I’m taking on this challenge not only for myself, but in the hope of inspiring others to pursue something difficult and see it through. I’m dedicating this hike to my sister, Theresa, who bravely fought breast cancer for 4.5 years before passing in 2023. Her strength will be with me every step of the way. I’ll be vlogging my thru-hike with a short delay to allow time for editing and to maintain some privacy on trail.
