One Last Hurrah - Hamarikyu Garden | Japan 2016 | Episode 29

Our last day in Japan had finally caught up with us, but luckily we had an evening flight out so we still had some time to enjoy one of our favourite countries to visit. On our last trip we realized that our hotel was right beside a large garden but didn’t have time to go visit so we put it on the list for this trip. Today was the perfect time to finally visit Hamarikyu Garden as it was a very short walk from the hotel, no wasted time taking the subway. As soon as we walked in we were blown away and couldn’t believe we had overlooked it all the previous trips. We spent an hour wandering along the various paths taking you through open fields, along the river, over bridges and around large ponds. It is an impressive place to visit. Even spending a full hour we had to skip a few sections. After Hamarikyu we had to go finish packing and checkout before heading to the Ginza to find lunch and stroll along Chuo Dori which is closed to traffic on weekends. We found an excellent restaurant which squashed both our cravings, Nicole of tempura and mine of pork cutlet over rice. A quick stop into DONK! on our way back to the hotel before catching the airport bus service to Haneda where we relaxed in the ANA business class lounge for awhile before our flight. All in all an excellent last day in Tokyo, and final episode to our Japan 2016 series. New series starting soon!
