A new high-profile and uncompromising journalistic investigation by the team of the human rights project Stop Corruption exposes shocking facts of the inaction of law enforcement agencies and the judicial system in the case of a dangerous interregional gang of robbers and executioners. Recently, security forces loudly reported on a large-scale special operation, during which they conducted 33 searches and detained an armed group of so-called tour operators. This cynical group of seven criminals operated throughout Ukraine, committing robberies, apartment burglaries and looting in the midst of a full-scale war. The victims were not just robbed - they were subjected to brutal torture, tied up with tape and plastic collars, knocking out information about money and valuables, not disdaining even children's cross-stitches. However, despite the arrest in the red and irrefutable evidence, half of the bandits have already been released on bail, and the main financial monitoring for some reason turned a blind eye to the origin of these millions of dollars. This case is especially acute and of international importance because one of the victims turned out to be individuals directly related to the activities of the world-famous American charitable foundation Revival Foundation. The president of the foundation, Aksenia Krupenko, who organized the delivery of dozens of planes and sea containers with medicines and humanitarian aid to Ukraine, openly declares the complete negligence and disinterest of the investigation in proving the guilt of the criminals. The victims were faced with transparent hints from law enforcement officers about the need for financial "thanks" for advancing the case, and after the refusal, the investigation actually stopped. The investigators did not check the cameras in the pawnshops in a timely manner for the found contracts and ignored the interrogations of the suspects' close relatives. Such impunity creates enormous reputational risks for Ukraine and threatens to completely curtail powerful volunteer assistance from strategic foreign partners who refuse to understand why the country tortures benefactors with impunity. Stop Kor journalists visited the court session directly, where they recorded the aggressive reaction of the main organizer of the gang, Serhiy Boyko, who smashed the cage upon seeing the cameras. Thanks to the intervention of our film crew, wide media coverage, as well as the prompt response of the Prosecutor General’s Office and the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the term of detention for the leaders of the group was extended. However, the defense has already paid more than $ 80 thousand in bail for three active members of the gang, who do not officially work anywhere.
