Introduction to A Maker's Wardrobe (beginning with my cardigans)
This is the first film in a new playlist - A Maker's Wardrobe - which will follow a slow, ongoing project to build a wardrobe I actually want to wear. Not a capsule wardrobe. Not a minimal wardrobe. Not starting from scratch. I'm keeping everything I already have - a collection of printed Toast dresses bought secondhand over several years - and gradually adding things I've made, altered, or chosen with real care and intention. In this film I talk about where the project came from, why it matters to me, and how I realised I'd already started it without knowing - with a 1950s cardigan pattern, some inherited yarn, and a problem I couldn't find a solution for in any shop. I've now made five versions of the same cardigan. I'll show you what I learned from each one. This is slow making. It won't be a fortnightly update. But I will be coming back to this playlist regularly to show you where it goes.
