Michael “Muis” Roberts – The Pinnacle Momento “The hands are the most important thing whilst sitting on a horse, that’s your communication between the animal and yourself.” Cape Town born, Michael Roberts, started off racing at the age of 14 when he was by the South African Jockey Academy (SAJA) in Summerveld. Muis Roberts, is an 11 time South African Champion Jockey who immigrated to England and went on to win a number of Group 1 races, and the most notable being the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes in 1988. Michael Roberts, talks about some of his illustrious moments in his career, from how he started off racing, time spent abroad and how his career as a jockey came to an end.
