I think that's why my crops weren't successful! I had experience with edible peas, and that confused me. Dig up the area where the peas will grow. There shouldn't be any roots of other plants there. Dig a 30-40 cm trench and add compost and composted manure or compound fertilizer. Then add soil. The peas will root there after a while and will happily take advantage of this gift, repaying you with beautiful flowers. Before I plant the peas in the garden, I prepare them for leaving the greenhouse – I expose them to wind and temperature fluctuations for a week. I plant them in their permanent location in April – I plant them about every 20 cm. It's important that they have something to climb. A wigwam made of bamboo poles, a trellis, an obelisk. I keep some in the greenhouse just in case until mid-May. The peas will tolerate light frosts, but it's better to be safe than sorry. SWEET PEAS PLANTED – WHAT NEXT? Every week, as the peas grow, I tie them to the support with string – this is very important! Every time they grow another dozen or so centimeters, I tie them back. I keep the string horizontally. Without this, the shoots begin to droop and twist, and flowering is much slower. Watering - peas need regular watering. I have them in a spot with drip irrigation, which runs daily when it's not raining.
