Iconic tabletop designer Marie Daâge shares the deeply personal bedroom and library she has created inside her 1870 Haussmann apartment in Paris — a room she designed around the 35-year-old fabrics she saved up to buy as a young bride and has treasured ever since. With walls dressed in 17th-century-inspired pattern, a wrought iron canopy bed frame transformed from an architectural outdoor element found at a Paris flea market, Egyptian landscapes and Napoleonic prints collected during two years living in Alexandria, church appliques bought at a flea market, a wall-to-wall carpet in warm shades, and a built-in library created by closing off a door to the dining room with dark red shelves lined with books — this bedroom is a sanctuary of 30 years of memories, travels, and an extraordinary life lived with beautiful things.
