Poda de olivos que se han ido de madre | Rejuvenecer, desmochar y volver a producir

Today at La Horteta de Bussy, a new adventure begins: we've rented a field with over 100 olive trees, and now it's time for the most important step in recovering an olive grove that's gotten out of hand: pruning. In this video, I'll show you, using real trees, how we're carrying out rejuvenation and thinning pruning to allow light and air back into the heart of the tree. This involves reducing the height, removing crossing branches, and controlling suckers that have proliferated due to lack of maintenance. You'll see why some olive trees need lighter pruning while others require topping, and how to decide by examining the tree's structure. In addition, I'll tell you about the complete management plan: How we're organizing the work (first chainsaw, then pruning shears) Why we're concentrating the firewood in the center and shredding it to return it to the soil Why we're not tilling and how we're going to add organic matter sustainably What treatments we'll do after pruning to protect wounds (copper or organic fungicide) and prevent moisture-related problems, like olive leaf spot A realistic harvest estimate after rejuvenating the wood and reducing the tree mass How we're also going to manage the carob trees and the rest of the trees on the property If you want to see real, organic, and sensible farming (without burning and returning nutrients to the soil), this video is for you. Leave me a comment if you'd like me to start a regular section on tools and machinery to save time in the field, and if you're interested in me explaining step-by-step how I organize the logistics and work when I'm practically working alone.
