¿Mala Circulación en las Piernas? Cirujano Revela 1 Rutina Después de los 50
Poor Circulation in Your Legs? Surgeon Reveals 1 Routine After 50 Do you notice heavy legs, swollen ankles, or deep sock lines at the end of the day? In this video from La Casa de la Salud (The House of Health), Dr. Gabriel Romero presents a progressive routine to activate leg circulation after 50 through simple, low-impact movements performed at home. Leg circulation doesn't depend solely on the heart. The gastrocnemius and soleus muscles form what's known as the calf muscle pump. When you flex your ankle, raise your heels, or walk, these muscles contract around the deep veins and assist with blood return. Spending many hours sitting or standing without moving reduces this activity and can contribute to the feeling of heavy legs. The first exercise is the seated ankle pump. You'll learn to alternate raising your toes and heels to mobilize your ankle and gently activate your calf. Next, you'll perform heel raises with firm support to work your gastrocnemius and soleus muscles. The routine continues with controlled stationary walking, supporting yourself on your heels, balls of your feet, and toes, to integrate your ankles, knees, and hips. Finally, you'll practice ankle circles lying down with a moderate leg raise. This leg circulation routine does not cure varicose veins, thrombosis, or venous insufficiency. Its goal is to break the immobility, maintain ankle movement, and activate the calf muscle pump. Studies indicate that exercises targeting the ankle and calf can improve some measurements of venous return. However, a Cochrane review notes that there is still uncertainty about the clinical benefits of exercise for chronic venous disease. To begin, use a chair without wheels and a stable support. Perform each movement slowly, without holding your breath, and within a comfortable range of motion. If you've been sitting for more than an hour, a few repetitions can help break the inactivity. After age 50, consistency is more important than speed. ⏱️ TIMELINE 00:00 Why Your Legs Feel Heavy 01:28 The Calves' "Second Heart" 04:25 Seated Ankle Pumps 08:23 Supported Heel Raises 11:39 Controlled Stationary Walking 14:35 Ankle Circles and Recovery End: Recommendations and Warning Signs ⚠️ MEDICAL ADVICE This content is for informational purposes only and is not a substitute for professional diagnosis or treatment. Stop the routine if you experience sharp pain, dizziness, unusual shortness of breath, chest pressure, or loss of balance. Sudden swelling in one leg, accompanied by pain, warmth, or redness, requires urgent medical evaluation. Consult a doctor before practicing if you have a recent injury, vascular disease, recent surgery, or significant balance problems. 📚 ACADEMIC SOURCES WHO – Physical activity and sedentary behavior: https://www.who.int/europe/publicatio...
