Professor Raul Fangueiro is Vice-Rector for Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Knowledge Transfer at the University of Minho (Portugal) and a Full Professor internationally recognized for his work in advanced materials, composites, and smart structures. He leads the FIBRENAMICS – Institute of Innovation on Fiber-based Materials and Composites and serves as a member of the Portuguese Council for Science, Technology and Innovation. He is the author of more than 250 scientific papers, 36 books, and 40 patents, and has been ranked among the world's top 2% most influential scientists by Elsevier and Stanford University. Professor Fangueiro coordinates international research projects, is the founder of the World Association of Natural Fibers Research (WANFR) and several technology-based spin-off companies, and collaborates with organizations such as the European Defence Agency and NATO.
