In 1994, Blockbuster Video opened two Block Party locations in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Indianapolis, Indiana. These ambitious indoor theme parks, albeit miniature in scale, formed a blueprint to be duplicated all over the United States. Block Party featured indoor rides, 4D experiences, laser tag, a giant pinball machine, virtual reality games, and gigantic play areas filled with ball pits and foam blocks. It first appeared around the time that Dave and Buster's rose to prominence, but would ultimately be shuttered in the early 2000s.
