50 Cent in 2007: 'I Only Had 4 Days Vacation in the Last 4 Years.' | Interview | TMF
Curtis James Jackson III, better known as 50 Cent, is an influential American rapper, actor, television producer, and businessman. Born on July 6, 1975, in South Jamaica, Queens, he embarked on his musical career in 1996. Despite a near-fatal shooting in 2000 that led to the cancellation of his debut album "Power of the Dollar" and his departure from Columbia Records, 50 Cent's career took a significant turn in 2002. His mixtape "Guess Who's Back?" caught the attention of Eminem, leading to a deal with Shady Records, Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment, and Interscope Records. 50 Cent's debut studio album, "Get Rich or Die Tryin'," was released in 2003 to both critical and commercial acclaim, topping the Billboard 200 and achieving nonuple platinum certification. The album featured hits like "In da Club" and "21 Questions." That same year, he founded G-Unit Records, alongside launching a successful group and signing artists like Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo. His follow-up album, "The Massacre," continued his success, including the number-one single "Candy Shop." Although his subsequent albums "Curtis" and "Before I Self Destruct" saw a decline in success, he made a return to his roots with "Animal Ambition" in 2014. Since then, 50 Cent has focused more on television and media, producing and starring in the series "Power" and its spin-offs through his company G-Unit Films and Television Inc. Throughout his career, 50 Cent has sold over 30 million albums worldwide and received numerous awards, including a Grammy and a Primetime Emmy. Despite mixed reviews in his acting career, with roles in films like "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" and "Home of the Brave," he has been recognized as a significant figure in rap music, ranking 17th on Billboard's "50 Greatest Rappers" list in 2023. His influence extends beyond music, with significant impacts on television, film, and the business world. Watch more TMF videos ► https://bit.ly/MoreTMF Join us.
