Curtis James Jackson III, better known as 50 Cent, is an influential American rapper, actor, television producer, and businessman. Born on July 6, 1975, in South Jamaica, Queens, he embarked on his musical career in 1996. Despite a near-fatal shooting in 2000 that led to the cancellation of his debut album "Power of the Dollar" and his departure from Columbia Records, 50 Cent's career took a significant turn in 2002. His mixtape "Guess Who's Back?" caught the attention of Eminem, leading to a deal with Shady Records, Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment, and Interscope Records. 50 Cent's debut studio album, "Get Rich or Die Tryin'," was released in 2003 to both critical and commercial acclaim, topping the Billboard 200 and achieving nonuple platinum certification.
