Driving to the Kauzmann Trail | Cape Breton 🇨🇦

Looking for the most breathtaking 360° coastal views in Nova Scotia without the Skyline Trail crowds? Try the Kauzmann Trail. Sitting 1,000 feet above the Atlantic Ocean on a narrow dramatic ridgeline, this "hidden gem" is an absolute must-do — if you can find it. Since it’s not an official park trail, navigating the unmarked roads can get tricky. 🧭 GETTING THERE: Leave the Cabot Trail at Cape North (by Morrison's Restaurant), turn onto Bay St. Lawrence Road. Drive north for roughly 11 miles. Take the unmarked gravel road (6014 Rd) on your right – after Sugar Loaf. ⚠️ VEHICLE WARNING: 6014 Road is an active, rugged quarry road. It is steep, unpaved, and heavily rutted with sharp rocks. A 4WD vehicle with high clearance (SUV or truck) is highly recommended. If you are in a small, low-clearance car, you may need to park near the bottom or the quarry (about halfway in) and hike the remaining distance up the road, adding significant time to your trip.
