Crazy!!!!! Wild kestrel attacks barn owls pair inside nest and is lucky she escapes with her life!
In this extraordinary wildlife moment, a female kestrel enters an active barn owl nest box for the second time, leading to a dramatic and dangerous confrontation. This video captures that second encounter, but it’s part of a larger story involving three separate intrusions—all driven by one critical factor: competition for nesting space. 🦅 First Encounter – The Initial Clash: (see: • Super Amazing! Wild barn owls vs Kestrels ... ) The saga began when a female kestrel entered the nest box and encountered a roosting female barn owl. With no eggs yet laid, the female owl was resting when the kestrel suddenly appeared. A tense and aggressive fight broke out in the confined space. The kestrel eventually retreated, but it was clear she had her eye on the box. 🦉 Second Encounter – A Similar Standoff: (see: • Super Amazing! Wild barn owls vs Kestrels ... . Not long after, the kestrel returned again—this time once more finding only the female barn owl inside. The situation mirrored the first encounter: another intense one-on-one fight between the two females. Again, the kestrel was driven off, but her persistence was becoming clear. 🎥 Third Encounter – The Fight for the Future: Weeks later, the kestrel made a third and most dangerous attempt. This time, the nest was fully active, with: A male barn owl on guard, A female barn owl incubating four precious eggs. As the kestrel entered, the male barn owl immediately attacked, engaging in a furious battle to drive her out. The female owl stayed low, bravely shielding the eggs with her body. The kestrel, overwhelmed by the united defense, struggled to escape. After a frantic scuffle, she managed to flee—injured but alive. 🏚️ Why Are They Fighting? This isn’t just about territory—it’s about survival and reproduction. In nature, suitable nesting sites are a limited resource, especially for cavity-nesting birds like barn owls and kestrels. Even though we’ve installed many nest boxes to support these species, competition remains fierce. A good nest site can mean the difference between raising young successfully or not at all. This footage offers a rare and powerful glimpse into the real-life struggles birds face to secure a place to breed and raise their young. 🧠 Why This Matters: This video captures more than just a fight—it tells a story of instinct, resilience, and the harsh realities of the wild. It’s a raw, unscripted moment that highlights the complex dynamics of wildlife behavior.
