Ep59 Mast Emergency During the Crossing to Cedros Island

Sailing from San Quintin to Cedros Island turned into the most challenging sail of our Baja journey thus far. High winds, massive swells, and a snapped line forced Tim to climb the mast — while the boat was still moving. What started as a regular passage with typical winds and swells escalated to one of the most challenging overnight sails yet. A line snapped and Tim had to go up the mast while the boat was rolling in increasing swells. In this episode: • Departure from San Quintin • The snapped line emergency • Tim's mast climb in rough seas • Dolphin visits • Sailing in high winds and big swells off the Baja coast at night • Our arrival at Cedros Island We are two recently retired educators, looking to live the blue water cruising life on a teachers' retirement budget.
