Women Hunt Down Absconding Jeweller in Goa
Women from Sada caught an absconding jeweller, Bhimappa Chalvadi, and brought him to Vasco Police Station after alleging he cheated them of gold worth several lakhs. They claim they had pledged their gold for low-interest loans and repaid the dues, but the jeweller refused to return their jewellery. The women also alleged that despite filing two FIRs, Mormugao Police failed to take action, forcing them to track him down themselves. They further claimed the jeweller boasted that the police were "in his pockets" and accused him of using their money to buy new bungalows. The police are yet to respond to these allegations.
