The Speaker Upgrade You Can’t Undo ARC X Setup

Today I’m setting up and calibrating ARC Studio on the new ARC X platform. This is IK Multimedia’s dedicated hardware room correction system, and once you upgrade to ARC X there is no way back to ARC 4. That matters. In this video I walk through what ARC Studio actually is, where it sits in the signal chain, how I’m using it in my studio, and the full ARC X calibration process using the new software. This is a real crossover topic for The Audio Lab because this kind of dedicated speaker correction technology normally lives in the studio world, but there is absolutely a use case for serious hi-fi systems as well. If your room is the problem, changing DACs probably is not the answer. In this video: What ARC Studio actually is Why dedicated hardware correction is interesting XLR in and out signal chain placement Post-monitor-volume setup with SSL 12 ARC 4 to ARC X upgrade context Why ARC X means no rollback New room calibration walkthrough Quick first listen after setup This unit stores the correction in the hardware itself, so once calibration is done you do not need to keep a Mac or PC connected for normal playback. That is one of the key reasons I like this kind of device. It does one job. And it sits in the chain like proper hardware.
