The Longest 18th Century Pocket Project Ever!

One item of 18th Century Clothing that I find absolutely fascinating and awesome all at once are pockets! Women's clothing didn't have pockets, and it was made in such a manner that it could change sizes as needed due to weight gain/weight loss and pregnancy. Petticoats were made with slits at the side near the waistband, and pockets were worn under the stays. They could be easily accessed through the slits in the petticoats. Pockets could be used to carry personal items, sewing kits, money, and various other objects. My sister volunteered to hand-embroider a pair of 18th Century pocket panels for me, and I am finally getting the pockets put together. I hope you enjoy my little trip down memory lane in the middle.
