Unboxing the Rolex RLX Titanium Yacht-Master 42 (226627)

An unexpected pick this past weekend when I went to visit my AD. The Yacht-Master went from a watch I wouldn't have considered to being my new possible daily. Case & Material: Oyster case, 42 mm in diameter, made from Rolex’s proprietary Grade 5 titanium alloy branded as “RLX titanium”. Dimensions: Approximately 11.6 mm thick and 50.3 mm lug-to-lug. Water-Resistance: 100 metres (330 feet) waterproof. Bezel: Bidirectional rotatable 60-minute graduated bezel with a matt black Cerachrom (ceramic) insert. Raised polished numerals and graduations stand out against a sand-blasted background. Dial: Intense black dial, with broad hands and hour markers in simple shapes (triangles, circles, rectangles). Chromalight luminescent display for strong legibility in low light. Movement: Rolex calibre 3235, in-house self-winding mechanical movement. Automatic winding. Power Reserve: Approximately 70 hours. Bracelet & Clasp: Oyster bracelet in RLX titanium, three-piece solid links. Fitted with Oysterlock folding safety clasp and Easylink 5 mm comfort extension link. The bracelet also includes patented ceramic inserts inside the links to enhance flexibility and durability. Material Highlights: The RLX titanium alloy offers both a dramatic reduction in weight (roughly one-third lighter compared to equivalent steel versions) and excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical strength. Certification: Superlative Chronometer (COSC + Rolex’s own certification after casing) — meaning a precision of about −2/+2 seconds per day.
