Even at 5 PM, the temperature inside the greenhouse was 38°C. The heat is far too harsh for both the summer vegetables and the people working there. At Sanwa Farm, we rely on elderly staff members to harvest okra, but last year one suffered from heatstroke. This year, we've decided to prioritize safety above all else. Stopping the harvest will reduce sales. Furthermore, not harvesting the pods will exhaust the plants, potentially preventing us from resuming harvesting even after the heat subsides. However, the lives of our workers are paramount. While this dangerous heat continues, we will temporarily suspend okra harvesting.
