SCBA (Self-contained breathing apparatus) Donning Procedure

Our trainer is showing you how to do pre-use checks and how to don a self-contained breathing apparatus. SCBA (Self-contained breathing apparatus) is used to protect workers against oxygen deficiency, dust, Asbestos, gases and vapours at refineries, aboard vessels, at fire and in tunnels. This video is for informational purposes only. You must complete a certified breathing apparatus training course in order to be qualified to use this equipment. DONNING steps: 1. Place the pressurized cylinder on the ground in reverse way. 2. Visually check SCBA assembly. Loosen all straps. 3. Donning like a COAT grasping backframe with both hands on either side of the cylinder. (Overhead method may bring head injury so practice is needed) 4. Tighten all straps (shoulder, waist and chest). 5. Extent air pressure gauge and remove if any air is inside demand valve hose (using bypass valve). 6. Open cylinder fully – for supply of pure air. 7. Donning facepiece and check seal tightness. 8. Now connect both assemblies. 9. Donning safety gloves and helmet. DOFFING steps: 1. Unclick regulator 2. Remove gloves and Helmet/hood 3. Doff facepiece 4. Doff all the straps and cylinder harness assembly. 5.
