Why do players with "heavy physiques," rare in other sports, shine so brightly on the baseball field? Park Yong-taek explains that it's directly linked to home runs. He himself has even gained weight intentionally to hit home runs. So what exactly is the connection between a player's physique and home runs? "How did I hit that ball?" Even Commissioner Park Yong-taek, with his 19 years of experience as a player, still has a mystery. He doesn't even know how he managed to hit a pitch that flew in at just 0.4 seconds. How can science explain a batter's swing, a split-second moment that unfolds? From the "kinematic sequence" that identifies optimal movement to the brain's "predictive ability"—a fascinating story that will leave you with no time to relax. A .400 batting average is a dream for hitters. However, since Baek In-cheon in 1982, there hasn't been a .400 hitter in Korea in over 40 years. Why are there no more .400 hitters? Various reasons have been cited, including the evolution of the baseball ecosystem and the increase in the number of games. Professor Lee Ki-kwang focuses on a new technology called "biomechanics." Biomechanics, which analyzes player movements and helps develop customized solutions, is currently attracting interest from teams around the world. So how is this technology being utilized in Korea?
