How does a contemporary textile project based on traditional embroidery come about? In this video, I talk about the embroidery lab at the Museum of Decorative Arts and show the entire project process—from researching embroidery in the Tver region to creating a custom coat. We'll be leafing through my research sketchbook together: it covers the analysis of historical examples, the search for composition, the development of sketches, and the selection of materials. I'll also explain why the project incorporated not only the traditions of Torzhok gold embroidery but also folk techniques like stem and chain stitches, and how they became part of the project's artistic concept.
