New Cervélo Soloist: Faster & Lighter | Gearhead® Field Test
Faster, lighter, and still the closest thing Cervélo makes to a one-bike quiver—the all-new Soloist is a serious step up. 🚴 Eric and Jono took it out on Utah roads, where the slippery new aero package and R5-derived cockpit had it riding like a bike that costs twice as much. In this video, our Bike Gearheads dig into the redesigned Soloist—Cervélo's do-it-all aero bike that splits the difference between the climb-happy R5 and the full-gas S5. It's 8.6 watts faster and 267 grams lighter than before, with a one-piece HB18 cockpit lifted from the R5, fully integrated cabling, a UDH rear end, 36mm tire clearance, and aero bottles that still drop into standard cages. But can an aero bike actually climb, and does a race-bred frame beat you up over the miles? Eric and Jonno answer both—plus the 1x 13-speed Force XPLR AXS build they rode, the Reserve 42|49 wheels, the power meters on every build, and both colorways. Key Highlights in the Video: ✅ What's new vs. the old Soloist (8.6 watts faster, 267g lighter) ✅ The R5-derived HB18 one-piece cockpit and fully integrated front end ✅ Ride impressions: climbing, sprinting, and confidence-inspiring descents ✅ The 1x 13-speed Force XPLR AXS build, gearing, and Reserve wheels ✅ Full build lineup, power meters across the board, and both colorways ✅ Who the Soloist is really for—and where it lands between the R5 and S5 Related Products: ➡️ Cervélo Soloist Red AXS Road Bike: https://www.competitivecyclist.com/ce... ➡️ Cervélo Soloist Force XPLR AXS Road Bike: https://www.competitivecyclist.com/ce... ➡️ Cervélo Soloist Force AXS Road Bike: https://www.competitivecyclist.com/ce... ➡️ Cervélo Soloist Ultegra Di2 Road Bike: https://www.competitivecyclist.com/ce... ➡️ Cervélo Soloist Rival AXS Road Bike: https://www.competitivecyclist.com/ce... ➡️ All Cervelo: https://www.competitivecyclist.com/br... ➡️All Road Bikes: https://www.competitivecyclist.com/ca... ➡️Road Bike Shoes: https://www.competitivecyclist.com/ca... ➡️Cycling Components: https://www.competitivecyclist.com/ca... ➡️ All Cycling Apparel: https://www.competitivecyclist.com/rc... ➡️️ Our Road Bike Guide: https://www.competitivecyclist.com/ca... 0:00 – Intro 0:37 – What's New on the Soloist 3:41 – Build Options & Power Meters 5:12 – Colors & Sizing 5:46 – Ride Impressions 8:21 – Drivetrain & 1x Discussion 9:48 – Stiffness, Comfort & Compliance 10:28 – Who Is This Bike For? 11:17 – What We'd Improve 12:17 – Weighing the Bike 12:52 – Outro Connect With a Gearhead: 1.888.276.7130 or Email: [email protected] Competitive Cyclist offers the ultimate road cycling shopping experience.
