Elvis Presley - The August 1969 RCA Multi-track Recordings - Volume One - 21 August Midnight Show

Elvis returned to live performances on 31 July 1969 at Las Vegas' International Hotel after almost eight and a half years in Hollywood since his previous live appearance in Honolulu's Bloch Arena in Hawaii. This return to live performing on the back of his highly successful "Singer Presents Elvis" NBC TV special was met with critical and public acclaim. Elvis was back and the engagement would see him perform twice a day for four weeks, a schedule that would be repeated in all but his last two Las Vegas engagements. To mark this occasion, RCA arrived with their recording equipment with the aim of collating a live album from the shows that they would record. From his midnight show on 21 August thru his midnight show on 26 August, eleven complete shows were recorded by RCA. The album that the recordings had originally been intended for saw twelve tracks, taken from just three of the shows the midnight shows on 24 and 25 and the dinner show on 26 August. Selections from the other recordings were drip fed on several compilations and box sets but it was not until 2001 and the release of the boxset "Live in Las Vegas" that a complete concert from these shows was finally available. However, even this contained a slight edit to the monologue. The inception of the official Elvis collectors label "Follow That Dream" saw more of these concerts released with one further show on a mainstream album. However, in 2019 Sony released every show in it's unedited entirety and completely remastered giving the most incredible listening experience and it is from this set that these uploads originate. This first show is actually the twenty third show of the engagement and an edited version of the show was released on "Viva Las Vegas" in 20007.
