Temu: The True Cost of Low Prices | RTS The Temu app is a runaway success in Switzerland and worldwide. It's easy to see why: clothing, toys, home decor, electronics, and cosmetics—you can find absolutely everything at ridiculously low prices. But beware: some products can be dangerous. While Swiss postal workers are overwhelmed with packages from China, customs officials are struggling to verify that their contents comply with the law. Swiss customs officers face real challenges with the massive influx of parcels from China, particularly orders from Temu. The unit has dogs and specialized scanners used to detect illegal items such as drugs and weapons, as well as products hazardous to health. But staff shortages and even sometimes inaccurate QR codes on some packages complicate their work. The ridiculously low prices of items sold by Temu, when it comes to products from China, raise the perennial question of production conditions. Sunscreens on Temu: What is the actual protection? We ordered seven sunscreens from the Temu website, with SPF ratings of 50 or higher. We then had the SPF ratings on the packaging tested in a laboratory to verify their accuracy. Catastrophic results: all 7 products are very ineffective in terms of sun protection.
