I went fishing at Oshio Beach in Himeji City, famous for its abundance of Japanese whiting. When the tide was high, I could catch them close by, but as the tide went out, long casts became more advantageous. So, while practicing my casting, I targeted the whiting in the deeper waters offshore, and got a string of hits!
