Accsoon M7 and M7 pro Monitors with camera control and more!
In this video I take a look at the rather clever Accsoon M7 and M7 pro monitors. These are Accsoon's first monitors and they are certainly making a big splash entering a very crowded pool. What makes these monitors special and incredibly versatile is that they run on Android. In normal use you probably won't even realise this as most of the time it behaves just like any other monitor. But you can leave the the built in monitoring app and then load additional Android apps onto the device. This opens up all sorts of possibilities such as using Sony's Monitor and Control app to wirelessly monitor and control Sony cameras. You could load your favourite lighting controller app or your favourite the ftp or cloud app. As a professional, fully calibrated monitor you have HDMI and SDI in and out, plus the ability to run it continuously without overheating, to power it from NP-F batteries or a wide range of other methods - things that phones and tablet don't have! UPDATE: Accsoon have informed me that they are working on wireless control via the built in HDMI/SDI monitoring app and this will then allow control of the FX6/Burano/FX3/FX30/FX2 and many Alpha's while using the HDMI or SDI input. UPDATE 2: Accsoon have informed me that The M7 Pro will also gain the ability to transmit video via a later firmware update. 00:00 Introduction 00:40 Introduction to the Acsson M7 00:55 The rear of the monitor, inputs and outputs. 02:26 Powering it up 02:55 Controlling a camera via a USB cable (FX3 shown) 03:45 using the touch screen to control the camera 04:10 Controlling touch focus with the monitor 05:20 Recording to an SD card and streaming 05:55 Overview of the monitoring functions 06:10 Histogram, waveform and vectorscope pinch and move 06:35 Pinch to zoom 06:47 LUTs 07:30 Factory colour and contrast calibration 08:10 Zebras, peaking, desqueeze and markers. 08:47 Accessing the Android operating system 09:24 Using 3rd party apps to increase the functionality 09:50 Notes about loading apps via APK 10:50 Using Sony's monitor and control app to control a Sony camera wirelessly or via USB 11:30 Touch tracking via Monitor and Control 12:10 additional control via Monitor and Control 12:38 Demo of M7 Pro connected to an FX30 wirelessly 13:08 Notes about using it to control the FX6 wirelessly (this should also work with the FX9 and Burano) 13:40 Benefits of the M7 compared to using M&C on a phone or tablet. 14:30 What's the difference between the M7 and M7 Pro? 15:07 Using the M7 Pro as a wireless directors monitor. 15:45 The Accsoon M7 cage and hood. 16:10 How I'm going to use the M7 and M7 Pro 16:58 The negative aspects of using Monitor and Control compared to the Accsoon app and HDMI/SDI 18:05 Switching between M&C and HDMI/SDI quickly 18:41 Conclusions and Summary
