Seniors au volant, mort au tournant ?

Along with 18- to 24-year-olds, drivers over 65 are the most likely to die in car accidents. Their dangerousness to themselves and other road users is being highlighted. Health problems can impair their driving abilities, particularly eyesight: a 60-year-old driver needs four times more light to see as well as a 20-year-old. An additional difficulty is the new traffic laws they have never learned. In their younger days, subtleties like roundabouts (their nemesis) didn't exist. Today, the debate is heated in France: should mandatory medical examinations be imposed on senior drivers, following the model of other European countries?
