300有余年の歴史と伝統 白根大凧合戦

越後平野を流れる大河「信濃川」の支流「中ノ口川」（川幅約80m）の両岸から畳24畳分の大凧を揚げ、空中で絡ませ川に落とし、相手の凧綱が切れるまで引き合う勇壮な世界最大スケールの大凧合戦です。 凧合戦の由来は、江戸時代の中頃、白根町の人が中ノ口川の堤防の改修工事の完成を祝って藩主から送られた凧を揚げたところ、対岸の西白根に落ち、家や農作物を荒らしました。これを怒った西白根の人が対抗して凧を揚げて、白根側にたたきつけたことから凧合戦が始まったと伝えられています。　　　（にいがた観光ナビ より抜粋） 　開催期間：2,024.6.6～～6.10　PM1;00～5:00
