Hobart Town (otherwise known as "Hobarton" - and later simply re-named "Hobart") was initially settled at Risdon Cove in 1803 - but was resettled on the western side of the Derwent River due to lack of water etc. in 1804. 2. The Hope treasure is a controversial subject. Given all speculation and conjecture, based on my historical research this video seems to represent the acknowledged order of events of the wrecking (as far as can be determined by myself anyway). 3. This video discusses several common theories as to what might have happened to the purported treasure. Other theories abound. 4. Van Diemens Land was renamed "Tasmania" in 1856. 5.
