Beginner’s Guide to the Bible What to do with the Bible? 1. Read the Bible (Matthew 12v3) The less we read the Word of God, the less we desire to read it. The best translation to read is the one that you will read and apply. 2. Listen to the Bible. (Romans 10v17) 3. Meditate on the Bible. (Psalm 1v2) We are told to meditate on God’s actions, law, or testimonies – all of which are found within the Bible (Josh 1v8; Phil 4v8; Ps 19v14-15; 119v148; 143v5) 4. Memorize verses from the Bible. (Matthew 22v29) Memorizing the Bible allows the Words of Christ to dwell richly in your soul so that you can have victory over sin and the devil. (Ps 119v11; Col 3v16; Mt 4v4). 5. Obey the Bible. (Matthew 7v24) The biggest problem with Bible study is not the failure to understand a passage but the failure to apply the words of God which we do understand.
