I Went to America’s Newest Furry Convention! Garden State Fur the Weekend Con Video

GSFTW happened in New Brunswick, NJ in early May 2024, after years of planning. The roots of this were the South Jersey furbowl meets. To be clear, I had a very good and fun time at this con. I was able to see a lot of friends, New Brunswick was a nice city to explore, and it felt great to have a con in my state. For a brand new con, it ran well and had almost 1,000 people attending. Officials only expected 500 to 700 people attending. So much hard work went into this becoming a thing and I thank the staff for their efforts. In this video, I chronicle various panels, events, a dance comp, and raves. And yes really, a news crew from Jesse Waters' show did come to the con on Friday and interviewed several people. This was then made into a segment on his show a few days later. I do this con to succeeded. However, constant background drama, various negative allegations, potential issues with some of the board members, and mistrust that several in the local NJ furry community have for this con means that while there are plans for a 2025 con, that actually happening is questionable. This is all a shame, since this was a relatively well run first year con in a good location.
